3020 Falls Prevention

Course Aims

The aim of this course is to give learners the essential knowledge and skills required to prevent and deal with falls in a health and social care workplace setting.

This course is aimed at managers, nurses and care staff that are responsible for delivering care to individuals who are at risk of falling.  It will teach the learner the reasons why people fall, how to carry out effective risk assessment and how to incorporate the findings into the care plan and how to deal with a fall should one occur.

Learners are to undertake written assessment.

Course Content

On successful completion of this course the learner will be qualified to:

  • Operate within the legal boundaries with regard to providing care and support to people who may be at risk of falling.
  • Understand the reasons why people fall.
  • Complete risk assessment.
  • Complete the care plan.
  • Deal with the outcomes of a fall.
